“In the name of Her Majesty all those whom it may concern to allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance and to afford the bearer such assistance and protection as maybe necessary”
Each moment I enter an airport to travel to a new destination for the development of a new dance collaboration, I take time to read the text above imprinted on my British Passport.
As a Black Female Choreographer experiencing and venturing into new territory regularly in Europe, Central America, USA and so forth, my experience as a British Citizen has been nothing but the above, for this reason I am thankful.
Fond memories of my childhood, on the streets of London as a young girl, I stood at the carriage of Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles with my English teacher to wave to the newly wedded couple. These are positive experiences which I believe justify a Power in service to something bigger and greater than oneself.
The impact of her majesty rein will remain imprinted on my memories as professional dancer, collaborator and choreographer.
